In conventional leadership models, one or a few people are in charge. They might consult with others to make decisions, but ultimately the approach is built on authority and hierarchy.
Adaptive leaders tap into everyone’s beliefs and ideas – not just the leaders at an organisation. The approach also helps people evolve those beliefs in the face of each new challenge and opportunity.
Adaptive leadership involves leaders being flexible, resilient and proactive in responding to challenges and seizing opportunities.
Adaptive leaders encourage learning, empower their teams, adapt and innovate, and promote a culture of continuous improvement, discretionary effort and agility within the organisation.
Participate in 14 x one hour interactive workshop as we dive into the theory, application and impact of Adaptive Leadership throughout this 14 week course.
Each participant will do a survey at the beginning of the course to map their competency in the Adaptive Leadership principles.
Each participant will work closely with Andrew to craft their ILDP to help you become a more effective, authentic and adaptive leader.
Hear from and ask questions of four high performing leaders within their field throughout this course.
Speak with Andrew at the beginning, middle and end of the course as a personal mentor to you who will help support your progress as well as keep you accountable as per your intentions set out in your ILDP.
All workshops will be recorded for you to watch back in your own time or if you cannot make it to a workshop on a certain week.
Connect with, collaborate with, share leadership ideas, podcasts and more with others within the community of the Adaptive Leadership Hub.
The Adaptive Leadership Hub is not only a great place to learn, but to do so alongside and network with other like minded leaders.
In the traditional sense of Adaptive Leadership, this pillar is referred to as 'Organisational Justice'. When organisations face unfamiliar challenges, everyone’s voice has a place in the conversation. Thus, an adaptive leader must make sure everyone feels heard, all the information is gathered and considered and take responsibility for both the positive and negative impacts of the changes they lead.
Emotional intelligence is considered a crucial component of adaptive leadership, as it enables leaders to understand their own emotions and those of their team members. Adaptive leaders deal in individuals’ beliefs, values, talents, hopes and dreams. These are human things that can’t be understood with logic alone, so adaptive leaders need a keen sense of emotional intelligence to succeed.
Adaptive leaders must be committed to growing and developing their own leadership skills and admit when they don’t have all the answers, and, those values extend to the entire organisation. Fostering an adaptive culture means embracing learning and development in every department and at every level.
To make it through challenging times, people must have complete trust in their leader’s intentions. Through their choices and behaviour, adaptive leaders need to show integrity, live by their values, and act on the best interests of their colleagues, before and after they’re entrusted with a leadership role.
